Well, let's keep it simple first, then get crazy. You could have trash in your carb float bowl. At lower speeds it just kinda swims around, but at speeds above 55-60 mph, it gets seasick and looks for a way out--like THROUGH the carb needles. Had this happen to my wifes bike and it drove me NUTS! Try this, if it happens again, just for giggles--while trying to go over 60mph or so reach down and pull the choke out one click. See what happens. If no change, pull it all the way out. If still no change, push choke back in and go home. Drain carb float bowl and remove--CAREFUL with the gasket. Peer into float bowl looking for carb critters, then use a spray can of carb cleaner to flush out the lower end of the carb. I betcha get a few carb critters out of there!
